Paper Pinwheel Tutorial

These paper pinwheels are adorable and super easy to make!  This tutorial will help you create some cute party decorations!

Supplies Needed:
6 x 6" double sided scrapbook paper
Dowel Rod
Thumb Tack
Hammer
Hot Glue Gun
Ruler and Pencil

Dowel Rods:

Thumb Tacks:

Scrapbook Paper:

Directions:
Step 1: Find the center of your square piece of paper and draw a dot.  Place your ruler diagonally across the paper and find the center.  Draw a dot at the center.  I have created a template that you can download that will help with steps 1-3.

Step 2: With the ruler diagonally across the paper, measure 1" away from the center.  Do this four times so that you have a 2" square around the center dot.  See template.

Step 3: Cut diagonally until you get to the 4 dots just drawn.  See template.

Step 4: With the hole punch, punch a hole in the center and on each of the corners on the left side.  See template.  This can be done after the four corners are glued down as well.

Step 5: Put a drop of hot glue on the center dot.

Step 6: Attach one corner to the center.  Put another drop of glue on the center.

Step 7: Attach the next corner to the center.  Put another drop of glue on the center.

Step 8: Attach the third corner to the center.  Put another drop of glue on the center.

Step 9: Attach the last corner to the center.

Step 10: If you have not poked holes, do so now at the center of the pinwheel.

Step 11: Using a thumbtack, poke a hole in the dowel rod.  For this I used a hammer to create a deep enough hole.  Be careful so that you do not split the wood.

Step 12: Put a drop of hot glue on the dowel rod at the hole.  Carefully and quickly, put the thumbtack through the pinwheel and in the dowel rod.  Be sure not to get glue on the paper.  You want the thumbtack deep enough into the dowel rod so that it does not pop out.

Here is the finished pinwheel!

Here is the opposite version!

Below are the final six pinwheels!

Enjoy!
