Christmas Hair Bows Day 4

Christmas Tree Bow Headband Tutorial

Supplies:
About 12 inches of 1/4" wide Green Grossgrain Ribbon
1 inch of 1/4"wide Red Grossgrain Ribbon
Black Headband
Hot Glue Gun and Glue
Wood Burner Tool (optional)

Christmas Tree:
Step 1: Begin by sealing the edge of the green ribbon with the wood burner tool.  If you do not have this tool, you may skip this step.

Step 2: Take your black headband and choose a spot where your tree will be.

Step 3: Glue the edge of the ribbon onto the headband.

Step 4: Fold the ribbon and glue it down where it overlaps the headband.  You will want each fold to hang off the headband a little more than the previous fold.  Continue this until the ribbon looks like a tree.

Step 5: Once you are satisfied with the tree size, figure how much ribbon you need to make two more folds (one on each side).  Cut the ribbon and seal the edge.

Step 6: Glue the edge onto the headband making a loop (as seen below).  You will now want to glue down the center of the loop onto the headband.  This created a nice finish.

Make the bow:

Step 7: Seal the edges of the red ribbon.

Step 8: Sew through the center of the ribbon.

Step 9: Wrap the thread around the ribbon and pull tightly so that it creates a gathering in the center.  Tie a knot on the back of the bow.

Step 10: Glue the bow to the top of your tree.

This can also be created on a clippie.  I just covered the clip with brown grossgrain ribbon to look like the wood base of the tree.

Enjoy your bow!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for my fabric headband tutorial!
